Passport Fun
by Bob (JFMF)
I've applied for my passport now, which is done at the Circuit Clerk's office. This is one of the only trips I've made into the Cape County Courthouse. I think that just about everybody else there that day was there for more probabtionary/criminal reasons. It costs about $100 to apply for a passport, and I was told that it could take as many as eight weeks to arrive. I had to send the real copy of my birth certificate away to the State Department. Also, you can't get your passport photo taken there at the Clerk's office. After a little research, I found that Walgreens was the cheapest place to have it done. It was pretty funny. The girl just pulled down this little screen right there next to the little Kodak machine and took my picture with a regular digital camera. Then she put the memory card from the camera into the Kodak machine and made the picture. Here it is:

From what I read, you're supposed to look pretty much like you'll look when you travel. So I didn't "dress it up" any. The tips also said to wear your glasses if you wear glasses. (It also said to wear your wig if you wear a wig, but you can only wear other headwear for religious purposes.)
